The original WinFOREX product has been available since 1996 and has been sold to candidates on a world-wide basis and many examination successes have been recorded - including a large number of distinctions and passes with merit in level 1 ACI Dealing Certificate and ACI Settlements Certificate (now the ACI Operations Certificate) and level 2 ACI Diploma.

Even a candidate who is actively involved in the day to day financial markets needs a certain amount of revision and assistance in exam techniques to ensure he/she is fully prepared for the examination - where WinFOREX is so useful. The WinFOREX software has recently been totally re-designed following a recent decision by the ACI to revise syllabuses and alter the marking methodology for all levels of the Prometric electronically delivered examinations.

The PC based approach replicating the Prometric electronic delivery format makes WinFOREX UNIQUE and even more relevant to a candidate’s training and revision requirements giving him/her the ability to "hone" their question management techniques to maximise their use of time in the examination proper. The software brings the candidate up to speed in all aspects of the syllabuses and the differing examination techniques required for the level 1 ACI Dealing Certificate (Module DC) and the back office qualification - the ACI Settlements Certificate - now re-launched as the ACI Operations Certificate (Module OPS) - both screen based multiple choice question formats.

The level 2 ACI Diploma syllabus and examination format was also revised in 2004, however there have been severe delays in its release and at the time of writing (June 2006) we still await a formal Prometric publishing date. The revised 3I0-009 examination consists of 122 multiple choice questions, 80 Standard textual questions in 7 syllabus topic baskets and 12 syllabus topic baskets of calculation multiple choice questions (4 worth 1 mark and 3 worth 2 marks in each topic basket). To pass in addition to a 60% overall pass mark candidates must attain a minimum of 40% across each of the 13 separate topics.).

WinFOREX Module DIP software has been revised to replicate the 3I0-009 format and new marking methodology. The accompanying text has also been totally rewritten and covers the 3I0-009 examination syllabus which is broader than the currently available 3I0-006 syllabus and is therefore appropriate for candidates studying for the current or the new (yet to be released) syllabus based examinations. However, because the previous version (3I0-006) had different question formats, sample questions from the current examination are included on the CD Rom to ensure candidates’ familiarity. In all modules of WinFOREX interactive question libraries (over 2,000 "core" multiple choice questions available in Module DIP) permit the user to test overall understanding selecting any number of questions at random, on a syllabus topic by topic basis or via a randomly generated full “mock” (trial) examination now able to be reviewed question by question on screen for post examination de-briefing. The trainee’s preferred system access is selected via the test selection screen (figure 10 - ACI Dealing Certificate).

The software also permits extensive customisation of exchange and interest rates via the button (visible in figure 9 above) so, using the random generation Mock examination feature , a completely different set of questions generated topic by topic according to the appropriate examination format can be created on each access.

Multiple choice examination questions, as delivered via the Prometric system, are displayed as selected (figure 11) with the trainee having the option to answer or pass (for later review). Unless has been selected immediately on confirming answer selection the system will respond - if correct a smiley face and congratulations, if incorrect a sad face with dynamic on-screen feedback on the correct answer available on selection of the button.

If the trainee has selected ACI EXAM on the test selection screen, rather than instant on-screen feed-back after each question, on completion of the test he/she is given a breakdown of topic by topic performance (figure 12 - correct ACI marking methodology) and is then offered the opportunity to review questions already attempted one by one on screen (with dynamic feedback).

WinFOREX also incorporates an Excel based spreadsheet utility (figure 13) including all ACI formulae (hard copy available to candidates during the examination) which can be invoked from the main test screen for use by candidates on an interactive basis to assist understanding of data elements required to complete syllabus calculations - vital preparation and revision for the calculation topic baskets in the level 1 and 2 examinations.

For further reference, dynamic screen responses and hard-copy debriefing and assessment reports are complemented by a comprehensive textbook (over 460 pages for the ACI Diploma) and system guide (both documents in screen viewable Adobe *.pdf format) on the WinFOREX CD Rom.

WinFOREX licences

Single user licence (SUL) - for the individual candidate

The product, aimed at the pocket of the individual candidate, is sold on a single load, limited access basis (100 accesses to each examination section permitted) and on-screen access to the system guide and accompanying text provided in screen viewable Adobe pdf file format). For Single User licence holders the accompanying text is available separately in hard copy format at a small charge.

Modules DC, OPS and DIP cost: GBP 165.00 per Module plus p+p (or courier charges) *.

Site licence - for the institution

For the dealing room, training department or institution’s open learning centre an unlimited site licence is available permitting multiple loads of the software and unrestricted access to all WinFOREX Modules for the benefit of the institution’s personnel. Performance reports and accompanying texts are additionally printable in the Site licence version of the product.
